Launch of Smith STOP WORK Wallet Card
SMITH's long-term business success depends upon the ability to continually improve product and service quality while protecting people and the environment. Emphasis must continually be placed on human health, operational safety, environmental protection, quality improvement and community goodwill. This commitment is in the best interests of all Smith stakeholders: customers, shareholders, employees, contractors, suppliers, and the communities where we live and work.

Smith employees work in our own facilities, at our clients’ work sites, and by driving on the world’s roads.  We routinely assess risks and implement adequate controls to protect people and the environment.  However, occasionally conditions can change, or the scope of work changes.  When this happens, it can become necessary to stop work to reassess the hazards and ensure that controls are improved.

No job is ever so urgent or so important that we can’t take the time to do it safely and protect the environment. Every Smith employee has the right and the obligation to stop any activity to assess hazards and control risks.

I would like everyone in Smith to know they have management’s full support to stop the job whenever necessary.
